TVSD is fully committed to providing a high-quality, unified and integrated system of services for its members by building upon existing community partners. These partners—many with the Village since its inception—and the development of a spectrum of new quality ones, will contribute to the sustainability of the Village. Current partnerships are:
The Tierrasanta Village of San Diego is grateful to the Archstone Foundation led by Joseph F. Prevratil, President. Their generous grant has powered the Village for three years. The mission of the Archstone Foundation is to prepare society for the growing needs of an aging population.
San Diego State University, Department of Gerontology, and University Center on Aging: Dr. Mario Garrett, consultant from SDSU, a leading research university, provides guidance in connecting TVSD with agencies that offer services, interagency collaboration and increased social supports within the community. He offers grant information, literature reviews, statistical assistance and publicity.
San Diego State University, School of Nursing: Dr. Young-Shin Lee, RN, Associate Profesor of Gerontological Nursing is partnering with TVSD to provide intergenerational contact with her nursing students and Village members. Students will conduct health assessments based on professional field assessments and provide feedback and provide community wellness fairs annually.
Southwestern Community College, Institutional Student Learning Outcomes: Donna Davis, an art therapy instructor, teaches cultural mixed media art/crafts classes to the Village and community. She uses the SWCC assessment process to evaluate her classes. Rebecca Wolniewicz, Coordinator, provides guidance for the Village to innovate its current business model to include the assessment process in designing future programs, i.e. classes, improve services and inform decision-making processes.
Love 2 Live Care Services, Inc., a for profit agency: Sheila Korn, President, provided monthly education seminars such as Caregiving 101, Music Therapy, Tax Strategies, Nutrition and Organization and in-home assessments. She led some of the training activities of TVSD volunteers.
The San Diego Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association has graciously partnered with Tierrasanta Village to provide Maximizing Brain Health speakers for our Brain Talk health and wellness series.
Tierrasanta Seventh-day Adventist Church: Gary McCary, Senior Pastor, recently hosted the second Annual TVSD business/social planning meeting at the church. He provides the Fellowship Hall once-a-month for TVSD's monthly meetings.
Chinese Community Church: Senor Pastor Reverend Dr. Philip Noordmans opens his church for community Tierrasanta Foundation: Joyce Muinos, President, sister organization of TVSD originated together to serve the community, served as fiduciary agent until tax exempt status was awarded to TVSD; jointly coordinates fundraising efforts and cosponsors events.
Tierrasanta Community Council: Tim Splinter, President, provides support in fundraising efforts, events and information for TVSD.
On the Go Transportation Program/Jewish Family Services: Brenda Bothel, Director of Transportation, coordinates transportation including Rides & Smiles and On the Go Shuttles and excursions with her staff for the community of Tierrasanta.
Health and Human Services Agency/Aging and Independent Services: Kristen Smith, Health Promotion Manager provides healthy living classes for the community of Tierrasanta.
San Diego Futures Foundation: Gary Knight, Executive Director and his technology staff provide technological support to TVSD and provide equipment, training and services to members of TVSD.
Del Mar Health Care: Don Ambrose and staff provide financial services and grants in support of the county's aging adults under Our Aging Society program. Their goal is to increase socialization for older adults in communities. Our program Cultural Diversity Through Art forges new community contacts.
San Diego Foundation: A leader in the philanthropic community, the Foundation provides guidance on fundraising and grant making as well as nonprofit image enhancement.
Villa Monterey Homeowners Association: This organization supports TVSD through a reduced rate for use of a clubhouse.
