Hikes with Bob

Two + hour/two + mile (Mission Trails), (near) Tunnel Loop

We gather at 8:30 AM at Catalina entrance. Go east on Clairemont Mesa Blvd; make a left turn on Villa Vallarta. Go two blocks, and make a right turn on to Collegio Drive - up the hill to a “T”. Turn left on to Alejo Street - which curves around to the right. At the third left, turn left on to Belardo Drive. Go one block, & turn right on to Camino Playa Catalina. The road eventually curves around to the left, a canyon appears off to the right. - with no houses on that side. Keep climbing; park on the right near where the road ends. We’ll get close to where the tunnel goes under CA route 52 which many have heard about, but few have actually seen. Bringing a hiking stick (or two) is recommended. Wearing long pants is desirable.

Introductory one hour/one mile hikes are scheduled every year in November, February, & May. .... People trying to break into the day hike program have an easy entry on these events. Also, those who are disabled can often manage these activities. .... The idea is not to push hard; but to get outdoors, see the beauty around us, and do light exercise.
