Even More Events to fill the calendar!!

Member to Member Meeting

We have all become familiar with the phrase “We are in this together” used with respect to the pandemic. This is so true when we consider all of the challenges and opportunities that we share as seniors.

Care Committee thought it might be advantageous to come together and share things that make our lives easier and more enjoyable at this point in our lives. We have scheduled a member-to-member session for Thursday, October 21, from 1:30-3:00, in the Clubhouse.  We will either have it inside with masks or outside in the park, depending on the number of sign-ups.

This is intended to be an organic, open discussion.  Through brainstorming, we came up with some of the following topic possibilities:

Health Issues (solutions for getting a good night’s sleep, motivation to exercise, stress management, eating healthy)

Mastering things at home:(fixing the printer, learning to stream content, use of devices such as grippers, zipping up the back of a garment, putting on jewelry))

Therapeutics: (Yoga, meditation, cannabis)

Services we use (massage, facials, mani/pedis)

No problem too big or too small:  We can all at least commiserate if not solve some issues of daily living.

Card Making: Make & Take

This is a “ Make and Take” workshop for creating homemade greeting and holiday cards. Bradlyn Mulvey and Marilyn Bente will demonstrate their techniques for making personal cards and will share their sources for supplies. Sample cards and supplies will be on display.  An “open forum” session will follow where participants can share their ideas or experiences with card making. Then  participants will be invited to practice making a few cards of their own to take away, ready to send to family and friends.

TVSD Home Talent Piano Concert!

As you may recall, member Marc Narkus-Kramer is organizing a series of member presentations showcasing their passions and talents.  The series will start on October 16th at 7 p.m. (online via Zoom) with Marc Narkus-Kramer presenting. Marc is an amateur pianist who still takes lessons and gives 2-3 concerts a year.  This concert will focus on the classical and romantic repertoire: Mozart, Chopin and Albeniz and more modern pieces by Shostakovich and my college roommate Carl MaultsBy.   It will be on zoom which will give you a first row seat so you can see and hear my playing close up.  Carl will likely be at my house so he can provide some information on his compositions.  In my view Carl’s compositions are very special.   Register for this event here.
