Card Making: Make & Take

This is a “ Make and Take” workshop for creating homemade greeting and holiday cards. Bradlyn Mulvey and Marilyn Bente will demonstrate their techniques for making personal cards and will share their sources for supplies. Sample cards and supplies will be on display.  An “open forum” session will follow where participants can share their ideas or experiences with card making. Then  participants will be invited to practice making a few cards of their own to take away, ready to send to family and friends.

                         Another Halloween Party Success!
Fun was had by all our spooky guests at TVSDs Halloween party. The costume prizes were voted on by our guests. First prize went to Bradlyn and Art for the king and queen of hearts. Second prize went to Susan Linsley for the Paris Witch. Third prize went to our pirate witch Joyce  Munios.

Trivia and Halloween jokes were led by Mike Sheehan and Kenneth Ross, our snow bird from Maine. We all had lots of laughs.

This year we had great Marie Calendars sandwiches, salad, fruit and pie. Patty Mudd coordinated the sandwich and pie choices and picked them up. Only good reviews and no one had to prepare potluck dishes. We might make this a tradition!

        Gaetano's Fundraiser

Thank you to everyone who showed up at our Gaetano's Fundraiser on
Nov. 6.  We supported a local restaurant, had fun visiting, and made $300 for the Village. Love our teamwork!!

     Museum of Making Music

Museum of Making Music: On November 10, 2021, 10 TVSD members attended a guided tour of the Museum of Making Music in Carlsbad.  The museum was founded in 1998 and open only to NAMM members. Then in March 2000 they opened it to the public as well.  The following paragraph is from an email sent to us by the Museum Operations Manager: “The Museum of Making Music showcases the people and products that bring music to our world. The Museum is segmented into four areas: the Making of the Instruments (manufacturing), Providing the Instruments (retail), Using the Instruments (playing), and Beyond the Instrument.

          Bunko Fun!

Monthly bunko!  Who would think such a simple game with dice would be so much fun!

The bunko ladies enjoy the snacks, the beverages, the occasional wins, but most of all, the camaraderie!

Contact TVSD member Ginny Van if you would like to attend a Bunko game.

Time To Improve your Dementia/Alzheimer's Knowledge?

Interested in Reducing Alzheimer's Risk?

We have all read and heard about ways to maximize our brain health.  Follow the below link for an article that condenses what we have read and heard down to “6 pillars of a brain-healthy lifestyle”.

Do you Know the early 7 signs of Demenita?

The linked article reminds us that “….persistent difficulty with memory, cognition, and ability to perform everyday tasks might be signs that something more serious (than normal forgetfulness) is happening to (our) brain”.  Discover more with the following link.

Are you a Male Solo Ager?

This article, written by a man who is a solo ager, focuses on the particular challenges faced by male solo agers.  The main emphasis is on the fact that most men don’t like to admit vulnerability or ask for help, and on how important it is to “go toward others”, rather than isolating".

Being a Solo Ager

Villages are planning programs and operations in light of California's expected re-opening. What has the COVID era taught us? What new ways of doing business will we keep, and what former ways will we resume? How are we reimagining the post-COVID village?
