TVSD Home Talent Piano Concert!

As you may recall, member Marc Narkus-Kramer is organizing a series of member presentations showcasing their passions and talents.  The series will start on October 16th at 7 p.m. (online via Zoom) with Marc Narkus-Kramer presenting. Marc is an amateur pianist who still takes lessons and gives 2-3 concerts a year.  This concert will focus on the classical and romantic repertoire: Mozart, Chopin and Albeniz and more modern pieces by Shostakovich and my college roommate Carl MaultsBy.   It will be on zoom which will give you a first row seat so you can see and hear my playing close up.  Carl will likely be at my house so he can provide some information on his compositions.  In my view Carl’s compositions are very special.   Register for this event here.
Pop Another Cork on Oct 15th

A second wine tasting event is open for registration on Friday, October 15th at 5 p.m.

this link

The tasting will begin at 5 pm in the backyard space at the home of Sue & Chris Christian.  We hope you will join us for this fun event!

Did you hear about the guy who's whole left side was cut off ?

He's all right now.

A thief fell and broke his leg in wet cement.
He became a hardened criminal

The secrets of success are a good wife and a steady job.

My wife told me.

Dad, are we pyromaniacs?  Yes, we arson.

Just so everyone is clear, I'm going to put my glasses on.

A commander walks into a bar and orders everyone around.

I lost my job as a stage designer.  I left without making a scene.

Male or Female? You might not have known this, but a lot of non-living objects are actually either male or female. Here are some examples:

PHOTOCOPIERS:
These are female, because once turned off; it takes a while to warm them up again. They are an effective reproductive device if the right buttons are pushed, but can also wreak havoc if you push the wrong Buttons.
TIRES:
Tires are male, because they go bald easily and are often over inflated.

SPONGES:
These are female, because they are soft, squeezable and retain water.

WEB PAGES:
Female, because they're constantly being looked at and frequently getting hit on.

TRAINS:
Definitely male, because they always use the same old lines for picking up people.

EGG TIMERS:
Egg timers are female because, over time, all the weight shifts to the bottom.

THE REMOTE CONTROL:
Female. Ha! You probably thought it would be male, but consider this: It easily gives a man pleasure, he'd be lost without it, and while he doesn't always know which buttons to push, he just keeps trying.

BOB HOPE ~ May 29, 1903 - July 27, 2003

He shall live in our hearts forever:

ON TURNING 70 - "You still chase women, but only downhill."

ON TURNING 80 - "That's the time of your life when even your birthday suit needs pressing."

ON TURNING 90 - "You know you're getting old when the candles cost more than the cake."

ON TURNING 100 - "I don't feel old. In fact I don't feel anything until noon. Then it's time for my nap."

ON GIVING UP HIS EARLY CAREER, BOXING - "I ruined my hands in the ring ... the referee kept stepping on them."

ON SAILORS - "They spend the first six days of each week sowing their wild oats, then they go to church on Sunday and pray for crop failure."

ON NEVER WINNING AN OSCAR - "Welcome to the Academy Awards or, as it's called at my home, 'Passover'."

ON GOLF - "Golf is my profession. Show business is just to pay the green fees."

ON PRESIDENTS - "I have performed for 12 presidents and entertained only six."

ON WHY HE CHOSE SHOWBIZ FOR HIS CAREER - "When I was born, the doctor said to my mother, 'Congratulations. You have an eight-pound ham'."

ON RECEIVING THE CONGRESSIONAL GOLD MEDAL - "I feel very humble, but I think I have the strength of character to fight it."

ON HIS FAMILY'S EARLY POVERTY - "Four of us slept in the one bed. When it got cold, mother threw on another brother."

ON HIS SIX BROTHERS - "That's how I learned to dance. Waiting for the bathroom."

ON HIS EARLY FAILURES - "I would not have had anything to eat if it wasn't for the stuff the audience threw at me."

ON GOING TO HEAVEN - "I've done benefits for ALL religions. I'd hate to blow the hereafter on a technicality.
