Living Healthy
Important Information on Staying Healthy and Enjoying Life

Senior Transportation

Let’s start with the bad news…. Eventually we ALL will reach a point where we cannot drive ourselves where we need to go, when we need to be there.

he good news is that if there was ever a time in history to be facing personal driving limitations, this is it!  There are now many safe, convenient and economical alternatives to owning and driving your own car. Particularly in the area we live!  CLICK HERE to view a summary of how Villagers can get where they need to be when they can’t drive and help from friends and family is not available.

As they age, women are more likely than men to have chronic physical and mental health problems. To help stay healthy, the American Geriatrics Society’s Health in Aging Foundation recommends the following vaccinations:

They also recommend:
Take calcium and vitamin D
Exercise, including weight bearing exercise and strength              training
Use sun screen year round

Way to Go
Greg and Fran!

The Vilage to Village Network FINALLY presented our very own Villagers  Fran and Greg Zweibel with their award certificate honoring them as the 2015 National Volunteers of the Year!   The presentation was made at their annual Village to Village Conference, held this year in San Diego.
10th Anniversary Party KILLS!

According to all reports, a fabulous time was had by all.  The full house included past and current Village officers and Directors, and many of the people that gave so much to get TVSD up and running at the start.  The food was great, and everyone is looking forward to the next celebration in 2028.

The Village Anniversary Celebration video shown at the party can be seen HERE.

The pharmacist said to a customer:  "Sir, please understand, to buy an anti-depression drug, you need a proper prescription.  Simply showing me a marriage certificate, and wife’s picture is not enough!"

A man who says marriage is a 50-50 proposition doesn't understand two things: 1 - Women, 2 – Fractions

1   Never slap a man who's chewing tobacco.
2   Never kick a cow chip on a hot day.
3   There are two theories to arguing with a
      woman. Neither works.
4   Never miss a good chance to shut up.
5   Always drink upstream from the herd.

A bookseller was conducting a market survey, and asked a woman:  "Which book has helped you most in your life?"

The woman replied, "My husband’s check book!!"

Eventually you will reach a point when you stop lying about your age and start  bragging about it.

The older we get, the fewer things seem worth waiting in line for.

Some people try to turn back their  odometers. Not me. I want people to know 'why' I look this way.   I've traveled a long way,  and some of the roads weren't paved

When you are dissatisfied and would like to  go back to your youth, think of algebra

You know you are getting old when everything either dries up or leaks.

I don't know how I got over the hill without getting to the top.
One of the many things no one tells you  about aging is that it’s such a nice change from being young.

One must wait until evening to see how splendid the day has been.

Being young is beautiful, but being old is comfortable and relaxed.

Long ago, when men cursed and beat the ground with sticks, it was called witchcraft.  Today it's called golf.

And, finally ~   If you don't learn to laugh at trouble, you won't have anything to laugh at when you're old.

Can’t quite remember one of our shamelessly
plagiarized jokes?  It’s probably in the archive
